We visited Gressholmen in the baking sunshine rather later in the day than I would normally visit. This was more of a social trip with a bunch of friends.
Despite the numbers of visitors it was nice to see and hear many of the usual summers visitors. A number of species had young (e.g. Eider ærfugl, Shelduck gravand and the Barnacle Geese hvitkinngås), others did not - 20 adult Oystercatcher tjeld were present without any young.
Given the time of day there were a reasonable selection of passerines to with singing Garden Warbler hagesanger, Blackcap munk, Reed Bunting sivspurv and so on. A couple of Swifts tårnseiler and a pair of Wheatear steinskvett were also present.
Heading back to meet the rest of the gang who were by now drinking wine at the restaurant I coudln't believe my ears when I heard a Thrush Nightingale nattergal going for it! I even managed good views of it once I figured out where it was. After ordering a pint in the bar I sat down outside and heard the bird singing from the comfort of the restaurant's terrace. Not sure this is a species I've seen with a beer in my hand before - and there have been a few:)
