There were three of us that gave the island of Hernar a go today, with the Thursday option of bailing around midday. Not often there are so many birders on the boat:)
There were no rarities seen but some typical late autumn migrants, some of which were new for the island this year - a few Parrot Crossbill furukorsnebb, a nice flock of Long-tailed Tits stjertmeis just as we left, a variety of auks including several Little Auk alkekonge, a nice adult Great Northern Diver islom overhead and a couple of Goldfinch stillits flying over.
Water Rail vannrikse, Willow Tit granmeis, several White-tailed Eagles havørn, small numbers of Goldcrest fuglekonge, a couple of Chiff-chaff gransanger, a couple of Bullfinch dompap, small numbers of various thrushes and good numbers of Robin rødstrupe and Wren gjerdesmett.
Back on the "mainland" a couple of Whoopers sangsvane were the first of the autumn at Tjeldstø.
A Richard's Pipit tartarpiplerke was found at Breivik in the late afternoon:)
In the evening the northern lights got pretty intense for a while.
