Øygarden 09 November 2008 - Golden Eagle

Above and below Golden Eagle kongeørn - a hard bird to see in Øygarden

Tried to check out the Scaup bergand reported from Toftøy - could it have been the same bird I had heading south past Skogsøy yesterday? I did not manage to relocate it, all that was on the lake were nine Tufted Duck toppand and a Goldeneye kvinand. A couple of White-tailed Eagle havørn flew over and at least one Parrot Crossbill furukorsnebb was with a flock of Common Crossbill granskorsnebb.

However, the trip was far from wasted as on the way home I picked up a first (or possibly second) year Golden Eagle kongeørn - a rare species in Øygarden and something I haven't seen out here since 2003!
