Skogsøy 13 May 2020 - Another day at the coal face

Fresh northerly winds and mostly sunny, although not quite hail free. With winds still in the north there was never much doubt about where I woud go today.

With the gale abating I hoped for some more passage. This was partly true, although the main increase was in the numbers of auks heading north. What passes for good numbers these days headed north - although many of the Guillemots lomvi looked to be not in breeding plumage.

There seem to be more second year White-billed Divers gulnebblom heading north this year with two of the five seen today being in this age class. Several flocks of Barnacle Geese hvitkinngås passed and there was generally plenty going on.

The first Arctic Tern rødnebbterne of the year also passed and a Whimbrel småspove put in an appearance

The Barnacles hvitkinngås came by very close today:)

Gannet havsule

Guillemot lomvi - not in breeding plumage so possibly younger birds heading north to check out the colonies.

A few Kittiwake krykkje
